first let's look at the frame:

It is very important if you are considering a pit
bike for off road use that the frame is the twin
beam chromolly type and has the crade feature
which supports the engine from underneath.
Even with light off road use the single beam frames
without the cradle feature are prone to breaking
and this can be a costly and time consuming
component to replace. A frame breaking whilst
riding can also be very dangerous. All DemonX
bikes are fitted with twin beam cradle frames to
give you the confidence even under extreme
off road riding.

now let's talk about engines:

Over the years we have used many different
engines from China, but for the 125cc bikes
the Lifan 125cc engines have probed to be
by far the most reliable with less tan 1%
failure rate. It also requires very little
maintenance and is easy to start even
when left for long periods. We have tried
other engines which are cheaper, but we
found that the failure rate was a lot higher
and the inconvenience to the customer
and cost of replacement did not warrant
saving the difference.

now let's look at wheels...

The best wheels available are SDG wheels, if the
bike you are considering does not have SDG
wheels, then be prepared for wheel failure,
especially the rear wheels a the non-SDG wheels
are very weak due to the poor construction of the
hub and rim. All DemonX bikes are fitted with
SDG wheels as standard which have much
stronger hubs and spokes designed to withstand
whatever punishment you can throw at them.

chains:

We fit all our bikes with KMC chains from Taiwan
because they are the strongest available, cheaper
chains from China will stretch and break even with
low power engines. Chains breaking during use
can damage the bike and the rider as well as
causing inconvenience. We fit all our bikes up to
140cc with KMC 420 pitch chains.

fuel tanks:

We have up upgraded our fuel tanks to the
tougher polymer resin type for safety as split
tanks can be extremely hazardous when they
fail. These fuel tanks are more expensive to
buy and from photographs look very similar
to the cheaper ones, but we will not
compromise on matters of safety.

rear shock absorber:

The DX125 comes with a fully adjustable rear
shock absorber with a 1000lbs weight rated spring.
This rear shock provides incredible damping,
even under the most extreme riding conditions.
It is also suitable for adult riders. We have seen
many sub-standard shock absorbers on pit bikes
and many dealers have compromised on this
component to save money, we have even seen
shocks with cast springs which shatter
with light off road use. Cheap shocks provide
very little damping and when they fail can be
very dangerous.
